Try fetching and adding the certificate manually via Options. See https://manuals.gfi.com/en/kerio/connect/content/server-configuration/ssl-certificates/self-signed-certificates-in-mozilla-thunderbird-950.html for how you could go about it. TB 78.1.0 is available and it has a search function in the Options tab to help you reach the settings you want faster.
