When I click on the "Home" icon, two new home tabs appear (instead of one). Minor issue, but inexplicable and annoying. I am running Windows 7 Pro with Firefox 80.0 (64 bit). My home page is an .html file on my hard drive.

Hi Kent, Firefox's Custom URLs field uses a vertical bar -- | -- as a separator that allows specifying multiple URLs, each of which will get their own tab. For example:

https://www.mozilla.org/|https://support.mozilla.org/

Could you check to make sure you don't have multiple URLs in your field? If the extra tab is a blank new tab, there might just be an extra | at the end of the first URL.

Maybe also check the target line in the Firefox desktop shortcut (right-click: Properties) to make sure nothing is appended after the path to the Firefox program.
