After the recent TB update - to version 78.4 (64 bit), email addresses in the To:/cc fields, etc no longer show on separate lines but go on the same line. Is there any way of reverting back to the old view? I checked in Options and could not see anything.

No, there isn't. With Thunderbird 78 you can add multiple recipient addresses per row. See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/addressing-email

OK, but why make such changes? No benefit at all and makes it less easy to see who the recipients are when one has a list of more than 3 or 4. May we have the old option available in a future update.

Similarly why change the Inbox, Sent, etc. icons to the new 'boxy' shape? It's just pointless tinkering with a good product.

If you're really interested in what's behind those changes, you may want to watch this presentation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6yv4SFpuqM

OK, that presentation was useful and pleased to see that the designers have recognised the problem. I look forward to seeing the 'column' option to organise the addresses more clearly being added.
