Since Dec 12, I can't send or receive emails. It keeps saying "Cannot connect to the mail server" and when I try to send a message: "The message could not be sent because connecting to Outgoing server (SMTP) mail.rockthedream.org failed. The server may be unavailable or is refusing SMTP connections. Please verify that your Outgoing server (SMTP) settings are correct and try again." It was working fine before Dec. 12. I called my server InMotion, and they say everything is fine on their end, that it's Thunderbird. How can I fix this? - Kerry, kerry@rockthedream.org

Check if the server settings in Thunderbird are exactly what your provider says you should use. Post them here as well:

  • protocol (IMAP or POP3)
  • server name
  • port
  • connection security
  • authentication method
