My computer hung in middle of automated installation of Thunderbird (?to 78.7?). Eventually, fed up with waiting I forced a "cold" restart, after which when I tried to run Thunderbird I got a failure message recommending me to reinstall Thunderbird. Using a browser, I found the website and selected download. Then when I try to run the download, it asks me to force a Windows restart to clear an older version, but when Windows comes back, the error message has not been cleared. I have downloaded, run and re-tried at least three, perhaps 4 times, and during these the version has gone from 78.7 to 78.8 ! How do I get out of this. You cannot email me because Thunderbird is not working! I need access to it to comminicate, and am worried that a drastic measures will loose my preserved live email (inbox and stored sub-directories) and my address-book (which gets use=referred to for nuch more than just email).
