MS Excel Office 365 - windows do not display correctly; started on May 5, 2021

Beginning today, May 5, Excel files do not display correctly when viewing via Firefox web browser. I can open excel files for editing in Microsoft Edge, and they work/display correctly. In Firefox, I can edit, but can't view the spreadsheet wholly. It was fine yesterday.

microsoft wants users of its products to use microsoft products.

as such it has made all of its products to work flawlessly with each other.

so my educated guess is that M$ made a change that has FF users switching over to use its browser

but who knows for sure?

however if you can provide a sharable link to that doc, i can test out the error

Thanks. MS Word and Powerpoint each display properly and work fine. It's just Excel files that don't display correctly.

Here's a link to a file test file

Thanks for the link. The spreadsheet seems to look ok on my FF. So it's clearly not an issue by FF but something is creating an issue for FF.

A couple of things you can try are:

1) press the F11 key several times and see if this helps 2) zoom out a couple of time, via Menu View, see if this helps 3) temporarily run FF in safemode, via Menu Help Troublshoot mode, and see if this helps 4) start windows in safemode w/networking, and see if this helps

if any and or all helps resolve the issue, then you found where the problem is. Next step is to figuring what exactly is the cause.

I forgot to mention that it works fine on my Mac when using FF browser. I'll try your suggestions after I get off of a lengthy video conference. Thanks.

Also:

Cache and Cookies: When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

(1) Clear Firefox's Cache

See: How to clear the Firefox cache

If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.

(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, click the lock icon at the left end of the address bar. After a moment, a "Clear Cookies and Site Data" button should appear at the bottom. Go ahead and click that.

In the dialog that opens, you will see one or more matches to the current address so you can remove the site's cookies individually without affecting other sites.

Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

Well, I tried the suggestions you listed. No change. So, I initiated the screen recorder to capture the messages that appear briefly as Excel files are opening. Then, when opening the file's web url, it opened without error. Repeated several times, and it worked. Turned off recorder, and it still works fine now. Have no idea.

Thanks for your replies and suggestions.
