Bookmark folders with the same name are merging

In my bookmarks, I have two folders of the same name. They are located under different top folders, though. So:

  • All bookmarks
  • * Bookmarks Toolbar
  • * * topLevel1
  • * * * sameName
  • * * * * "someBookmarks"
  • * * topLevel2
  • * * * sameName
  • * * * * "someOtherBookmarks"

Soon after doing this, they two folders sameName will move to the same top folder, all the bookmarks in the first are copied to the second, and then the second is emptied, such that I end up with this configuration:

  • All bookmarks
  • * Bookmarks Toolbar
  • * * topLevel1
  • * * topLevel2
  • * * * sameName
  • * * * * "someBookmarks"
  • * * * * "someOtherBookmarks"
  • * * * sameName

How do I get this behavior to stop?

Are you using Sync to sync the bookmarks as that is a possible cause of this to happen ?

Sync is on, yes.
