I signed up for VPN and in the process, it asks you to create an account but never asked me to create a password. I created a mozilla account (name.mozilla.com) and it let me purchase the plan. However, it did not ask me to create a password during the whole process. So I downloaded TB and opened my account (which it let me do) and tried to create a password but it gave me an error that "sending of password for user did not succeed. Mail server pop.gmail.com responded: Username and password not accepted.". Now I'm locked out of my account and have paid for VPN that I can't access?! I was able to sign in with a gmail account, but it doesn't recognize that I have purchased the VPN.

Unless the VPN has instructions for setting up mail accounts, you'll probably have to disable it while adding the gmail account. A VPN complicates authentication, which is why gmail won't accept your credentials.

Thank you for responding! I'm not using the VPN while trying to set up my account. I'm trying to establish my account that I created so I could order the Mozilla VPN which it asks you to do during the process. For instance, when I try to sign into the VPN, I input the mozilla account that I created while purchasing the plan. It asks for a password, but I don't have one to input because it never allowed me to create one from Thunderbird or from the process of signing up for VPN. When I attempt to reset my password, it states that my email was returned. At no time have I actually been IN a VPN mode during this whole process. The VPN thing may just be a red herring...I guess the real issue is that I set up a mozilla account but it will not accept a password and has locked me out.

If you're trying to add a gmail account to TB, use the password that's used to access the account on the gmail website. To get a Mozilla VPN, you need to create a Firefox account, which you probably already have to access this forum. The Firefox account password has nothing to do with email or TB. I don't know how you created a name.mozilla.com account; mail accounts can't be created by TB - they are created by a mail service like gmail.

Add your gmail account to TB starting from File/New/Existing Mail Account, enter your credentials, and TB will enter the correct settings.
