I had my account rearranged with add-on manually sort folders in thunderbird 78. Recently I have updated to thunderbird-91.2.0-1.fc34.x86_64 Fedora (Linux). I read that changing the order of account needs to be done now in the account settings. In the account settings my exchange account is in the last position just above Outgoing server (SMTP). So I placed my exchange account there and manually moved the exchange account to the top position on top of my first normal account.

Each time I restart thunderbird I find my exchange account moved downwards again. It's very unpleasant to move over and over again after restarting my exchange account to the top.

Is there a way to tell thunderbird to leave my exchange accoutn in the top position?

I really appreciate the help as I cannot find where to fix it.

The Default account, set in Account Settings, Account Actions, appears at the top and is underlined. Select the Exchange account, then Account Actions.

Alas.

Yes, I can and have set the exchange account as my default account. It is underlined now. Placed the exchange account on top. But... after restarting the exchange accoutnt (still underlined) is moved to the last position just above Outgoing server (SMTP).

Is the Exchange account set up with ExQuilla or Owl? There might be a bug in the add-on that prevents a default account appearing at the top of Account Settings.

Yes, it is set up with ExQuilla.

I suggest you contact the support folk for the exquilla addon. I have a feeling that the account is not "created" until late in the startup process, like after the rest of the account and hence the folder tree are already populated.

But the addon should still work as it has been updated for this 91 version. https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-us/thunderbird/addon/manually-sort-folders/

Sadly. After reinstalling het add-on manually-sort-folders it's no solution. In the add-on the exchange account is also placed at the bottom.

I have the same issue. I created a thread "Email account order reverts every time Thunderbird restarts" before seeing this thread. I also have an Exchange email account that is my preferred top (and default) account. I also am using ExQuilla add-on to enable the Exchange account. Please let me know if you find any resolution. This problem, which arose with the version 91 update, has made me consider giving up on Thunderbird and going back to Outlook.

AS the addon will be loaded after the folder pane, I would guess that is why your wort order is reverting.
