I had just updated to 91.3.1 (32-bit) yesterday. An email came in this morning with black background. I replied to it. Now all composition is white text, black background. Would that reset my whole system?

Preferences showed composition was actually still set to black text, white background, as it was before. I reset to "default", which was black on black! Then I changed background to black text/white background, but nothing changed. Still white text on black background.

HELP! Thanks!

P.S. In the preview, it's still black text, white background. Open the draft and it reverses. Can seem to fix it.

Today this happened to me 20minutes after I accepted at Firefox update/download. I used other applications with no problem. When I logged into THunderbird with my original master password, all backgrounds were white. I used the Windows display settings for visual impairment that makes backgrounds black and letters white (or yellow).

I discovered is that the Firefox Update CHANGED MY WINDOWS DISPLAY SETTINGS! If you right-click on your desktop background, you will see a short menu pop up. Select "Personalize" and fix your settings to your original selection(s), then you will be back to normal. This is definitely a THUNDERBIRD-CAUSED FLAW.
