Hello,

I'm a faithful user of Firefox on Android, trying to avoid Chrome as much as possible... but the experience has been generally awful, with Firefox crashing randomly about 3-4 times a day, with no clear pattern of what might be causing the crash. Here are a few links to the crash reports; there seem to be several different bugs, which makes it difficult to troubleshoot or report (e.g. to bugzilla): https://crash-stats.mozilla.org/report/index/b9ad11c4-aed5-45e9-8c3a-82f020220127 https://crash-stats.mozilla.org/report/index/df324f27-dca6-48f2-aa04-8d04f0220115 https://crash-stats.mozilla.org/report/index/7154a4f6-659c-4e95-bf7a-e44e90220123

If no one here has a better idea of what might be causing this, I suppose I'll have to go through opening bug reports for every one of those...

Hi

As a first step:

  1. Open the Android Settings app
  2. Select Applications
  3. Find Firefox in the list
  4. Clear the cache (not data)
  5. Do the same for other apps on your device and restart the device.

Does this make a difference?

Hi, I did that in the past and it didn't help, so I went a step further this time: I wiped the android cache partition. Now I have the feeling it runs more stable, but I still have experienced two crashes in the past two days (their signature is different from what I was seeing before, though): https://crash-stats.mozilla.org/report/index/af283c8e-960e-4581-b424-2fc5c0220130 https://crash-stats.mozilla.org/report/index/1b6eca9e-79dc-432c-ac8e-bb85e0220131

In the past days I've had more frequent crashes; they look similar to those I had before: https://crash-stats.mozilla.org/report/index/7e6da5ba-b6ce-44bc-bdf3-afd340220202

Hi

I am sorry for the delay in responding to you.

We have just released Firefox for Android 97 today - it should be available in the Google Play store as an update very soon. Please can you try that update first, and if the issue is still occuring in Firefox 97, please let us know in an update to this thread and I will raise the issue with our developers.

No need to apologize, thank you for trying to help!

I updated to 97.1 yesterday but still experienced a crash today: https://crash-stats.mozilla.org/report/index/f132641b-e474-451e-86cd-2d0260220214

Have you rooted your device or installed any antivirus apps on it?

None to both. Until recently I also didn't have any add-ons installed.
