Thunderbird email not working

Hello My Thunderbird email has stopped working. It does not receive or send emails. It asks for my gmail password, which I send and this still does not work.

I have just checked with a helpful Apple Help person- who verified that both my gmail and iprimus email accounts are working. So by deduction- something is not right with the Thunderbird application.

I need urgent help please, as I am about to travel overseas for a business trip.

Thank you.

If it's your Gmail account, I had the same problem today.

1. Select the `Account Settings` menu item from the `Tools` menu.

2. Click on your Gmail account and choose `Server Settings`.

3. Change the `Authentication method` pop-up menu to `OAuth2`.

4. Click on your `Outgoing Server`. Click the `Edit` button and change the `Authentication method` pop-up menu to `OAuth2`.

That solved the problem for me.
