One possible reason for printer output to be the wrong size is a mismatch between the resolution Firefox thinks your printer wants and the actual resolution your printer wants. For example, if Firefox thinks your printer resolution is 600 dots per inch but your printer is actually printing at 300 dots per inch, the print job will be twice as wide and twice as tall as it should be and you'll only see the upper left quarter of the content.

Here's how to clear out bad resolution information in Firefox:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.

More info on about:config: Configuration Editor for Firefox. The moderators would like us to remind you that changes made through this back door aren't fully supported and aren't guaranteed to continue working in the future. Since we are cleaning up, I'm comfortable recommending this.

(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste print_resolution and pause while the list is filtered

Firefox should display multiple lines which follow the pattern of:

print.printer_name.print_resolution

(3) For each of those print_resolution rows that does not have a value of zero, click the trash can at the right end to remove the saved value (Firefox will look it up again or just let the printer use its default)
