Tried updating from version 91.12.0 to 102.1.2 per About Window. After download, clicked on install but version won't update. All folders and messages are gone. Only address book is accessible. Re-installed 91.12.0 and got all mail back. What's problem with 102 or what do I do differently?

Are you using Avast?

I did the upgrade and all my different mail accounts / folders/ subfolders all GONE ! When Tbird starts, everything is blank. My version now is 102.4.1 (64). If I start up then change to Troubleshoot mode and it restarts with things disabled (so it says), then all the folders and mail comes back. So, it is all there but something in this latest "upgrade" has broken something. Is anyone working on a "FIX" for this ? When starting using the Trouble mode, all the filters and such are disabled and that is a pain. So.....HELP PLEASE ! Tim

Access profile name folder - Help > Troubleshooting info > click the button next to Profile Folder Exit Thunderbird and rename these files:

  • folderCache.json
  • folderTree.json
  • session.json
  • xulstore.json
  • virtualFolders.dat
  • Click on 'Mail' folder and delete 'smart mailboxes' folder

Please tell us your results.

Your instructions are confusing. Do I select Help In TB then More Troubleshooting Info, or do I go into Troubleshooting mode? Where is Profile Folder located? Did not see any such folder. If I exit TB, how and where do I then rename the files you list?

Are we the only ones having this problem with upgrade to 102 version? Is Mozilla aware of this problem? Any plans to issue a fix?

The instructions are very clear IMO Do the following Help > (More) Troubleshooting info > click the button next to Profile Folder

I think your fix may have worked. I closed TB and waited a few minutes and re-started it and it looks like it came back with all the folders and mail. The only thing different is that it comes up in a smaller window and I have to pull the sides and top to get it back to a "normal" size. Thank you so much. I hope that the next round of updates do not mess us up like this. It was scary to think that my thousands of saved emails that were very important to me were GONE. After using the Trouble mode, I was able to see everything and decided to create a duplicate TB mail on my Linux computer. That took quite awhile but now I have 2 copies of the same emails and folders. Again, thanks for the help with this. Tim

Thanks for response. Found Profile in Finder. However, several of the files you say to rename do not appear in Finder window such as folderCache.json and folderTree.json. Also, you don't say what to rename them to. Several files that are there already named as per your list.

Had to revert to older TB. Upgrade wiped out all folders and messages. Mozillla really needs to address this issue.
