Thunderbird 102.3.2
Hi,
At some point yesterday my thunderbird upgraded itself to 102.3.2, and since then its pretty much un-usable.
I can't see new email's in my inbox, even though I know they are there. (Luckily I also have web mail access). If I find an email, it opens all the email's in the thread, I don't want that, ever. I can't get it in date desc order, it says it is in view/sort by, but its not, scrolling around I can see email's newer below email's older, its in no particular order as far as I can see.
I've tried folder repair, and for a moment it all looks great and I can see today's email at the top, then it all goes back to how it was.
I've tried messing with the view settings, and actually most of the settings without any effect.
How can I get it back to how it was before the upgrade? Ordered by email's received decending?
FWIW I have 4 email accounts on this thunderbird, all on different servers and its affecting them all the same, none of them sort properly and I can't find new emails.
Any help would be very gratefully appreciated?

Unfortunately, there's be no help on here after a week and I've had no choice but to uninstall TB, re-install an earlier version and then set everything up again from scratch.
I won't be making this mistake again, and actually my faith in Mozilla has been seriously shaken, not enough for Outlook, but Apple Mail is an option.
For anyone coming here, reading this and also being forced to downgrade just to get basic functionality back, Once its all done, go to settings, towards the bottom under Updates, Select 'check for updates but let me choose whether to install them". You can't turn off update checking, but this should at least prevent 'automatic' upgrade back to the unworkable version.

I am also having this problem and Resetting the Toolbars & Controls did not work. Attempted multiple times. No luck. I also installed a newly downloaded Thunderbird overtop of the existing TB to see if that would fix it, no dice. I wish I could get it working like you guys did with just Resetting in Safe Mode - but it doesn't work at all.
Also, can't open the "Settings" menu at all. Clicking on doesn't bring anything up.
I can tell it's purely a display issue - as the email is still arriving, and the pop-up appears when mail arrives. Just can't see anything or interact with anything.
Also, I tried a fix from another post saying to change the Theme - but this also didn't change anything.
Very stuck here! Any other suggestions?
I've tried resetting most things, but in the end I simply removed it, installed it, and then set it all up again, and that solved the issues right? NO.
Most of the issues are solved, but the 'thread' issue remains and there's no way I can find to get it back to how it was. As an example, I have an email, which is part of a thread going over several months, I can now only get this to show up ONCE in the inbox, and not in date order. When a replace to this thread is received its not shown, instead I have to find the 'thread' and click that, then I can see the latest email added to the bottom. Absolutely Hopeless.
I'm not recommending anyone else delete and re-install and re-configure, it was a couple of hours that may not be needed, its just what I did. Hopefully, someone will have a fix that involves just changing a setting somewhere.
Similar issue, would love to remove update or fix but can't seem to find a way how.
Looks like my Thunderbird update Saturday Oct 7th, Version 102.3.2 Build ID 20221005130639 and since then I can send outbound messages but no new inbound ones are being retrieved from my NSI mail server. I can login through NSI and read new ones so the issue seems to be in Thunderbird. Any way to delete the update and restore to previous pre 10/7/22 version or fix this issue? Have 6 different email accounts that download into different computers, all not working since the update. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hey Richard -
I feel I may be in the same boat. Going "nuclear" option, wiping it all out, and installing older version. Very sad. Thank you for updating.
Had this same problem lived with it for months. Today a bulb came on, went to add-ons, I had (3), don't recall that I had put them in, but there they were. Anyways disabled them and bingo bango sort was back. I suspect "no message pane sort" was the key. Hope this helps someone. Now If can just figure out how to get rid of a primary mail account that's no longer valid.
