When Firefox finished an update, it placed the Firefox menu item in the taskbar and put up the splash tab it used as a splash page to present notification of changes and whatnot, however this happens every time I start or restart the browser, the Firefox icon can only be removed temporarily and the same walkthrough splash tab returns as well, of course I want to remove those permanently.

You can check that those pages aren't set as multiple homepages.

You can check the homepage setting in "Settings -> Home".

Firefox supports multiple homepages separated by '|' (pipe) symbols.

My homepage and new tabs pages are set to the Firefox one, with the New Tab Override extension so being sidelined without being disabled (by my not selecting it in the settings), it is set to Duck Duck Go search page, as the custom url, for what it's worth. Also note that when I opened a second Firefox instance, the problem did not occur, like it did right when I opened this current instance and as it has before. Update: As of the most recent Firefox update, the problem persists. I am including images.

As of the date of this post, this problem is still present, it presents itself when in Safe mode, also when I change my home page and tab option to blank and turn the browser off, the setting is changed back to Firefox Home.
