How to stop server from checking for a folder that has been removed?

more options

One of the 3 email accounts I have configured on Thunderbird is a personal gmail account. I was doing some cleanup over the weekend and deleted an unnecessary folder from that account. I probably should have deleted it directly using the gmail web interface. But then again that shouldn't be necessary assuming IMAP syncing is working correctly. Anyway, I now get periodic popups from Thunderbird stating it can't find the folder that I removed. So why is the server still trying to manage a folder that I have manually removed? And how do I stop the annoying popups from appearing? If you need the exact popup message I will capture it next time and update this post. TIA

A suggestion: rightclick on the account, select subscribe and see if the account is still subscribed to it.

The folder doesn't show up at all in the subscribed list, so I guess it must be unsubscribed. Yet the problem persists. Good idea though, thank you.

Was the deleted folder a target of a filter that's still in use?

If I understand your question right, then the answer is no. I checked the gmail web interface just now(Settings > Filters and Blocked Addresses) and there is no gmail "label" (aka mail subfolder) with the specified mail folder name there. In case in may help, I'm also attaching the warning notification that the TBird mail server sends out periodically.

No, I meant a filter created in TB that copies or moves messages to the now deleted folder.

I've never created filters directly in TB to the best of my recollection. I just expect that syncing between Thunderbird and GMail works properly.

Don't recollect, check.

Nothing is worse than assumption, especially in this sort of context. I have seen far to many folk on this forum looking for an add-on they forgot they installed years ago that provided some function and now it is missing or complaining about a filter they created 10 years ago and also forgot. Use the tools menu to access message filters (note they has a drop down in the initial dialog to select the account to list). All accounts you have in Thunderbird need to be checked for a filter accessing that folder.

@Matt, thx. Checked all accounts, no message filters applied to any of them. Which didn't really surprise me but still, good to check. Anyway, I am re-attaching an image of the server warning in case it helps. Cheers!
