I already had the Printing Tools NG installed in thunderbird that is supposed to turn off the unwanted headers and subject so they don't print. However it does not turn off anything in this regard. Unless I am not setting the plugin right? How should the settings in Printing Tools NG be set to?

This is a support forum for Thunderbird not add-ons. Each has their own support. The download page for the add-on named shows this link for support https://github.com/cleidigh/printing-tools-ng/issues

I just installed the add-on and it added a tab with the install with detailed instruction on how to use the add-on. Have you read this information? If you have closed it go to the add-on manager in the tools menu, select the wrench in the add-ons name in the list of installed add-ons and look at the settings. Clicking any of the (in my case orange question marks) reopens the tab selecting the information on that page relevant to the question mark.

As far as I can see all settings are contained in the dialog that opens when you click the wrench. The site shows it as looking like this https://addons.thunderbird.net/user-media/previews/full/207/207016.png
