This is Mind-Numbingly Frustrating!!! I try to load an ordinary website, in this case, DiscountTire.com. I can see that it Firefox tries to load the site, but won't. This is a VERY LARGE COMPANY. But, as is frequently the case, Firefox will not load the site. I try to allow it in Privacy section, but to no avail. And yes, it is an https site. What Gives? This happens repeatedly for many (MANY) websites; HOW DO I TELL FIREFOX THAT I WANT TO USE A SITE?

Can you open that website in any different browser?

Yes, chrome. Chrome gave a pop up saying the site wanted to know my location with choices for Allow or Block

The Firefox browser tab Does Display the name of the website; the page does not load.

Are you using a proxy or VPN?

You can check the connection settings.

  • Settings -> General -> Network: Connection -> Settings

If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet, select "No Proxy" if "Use the system proxy settings" or one of the others do not work properly.

See "Firefox connection settings":

For cor-el, Time has flown. It was 2 months ago that I had this issue and I had had it several times with various websites. Somewhere along the way, I read something about Duck-Duck (whatever it's called) causing issues accessing websites. So I removed it from my Firefox add-ins (I think that's where it was) AND She-Bang I have not had any website loading problems since. My speculation is that the security layer on the Duck-Duck was not allowing certain websites to load. Anyway, it is unfortunate for Firefox that one of its recommended add-ins is causing this type of issue without people like you having the info. (Firefox is getting blamed for what D-D is causing and I imagine that some users just quit and go else where.) There is probably some setting somewhere that could correct the problem, but I haven't the time or inclination to figure all that out. Finally, you took the time to address my issue and I wanted to let you know the outcome.
