Mozilla isn't able to download anything larger than 1GB files

more options

For context, I accidentally made my root D: folder into the downloads folder and during this time I was still able to download using firefox. But when I finally changed the folder to my default one, firefox stopped being able to download anything larger than 1gb files. I can still download small images but anything larger than that I can't download. Else, it would only just show "Failed" in the downloads bar.

I've tried: 1. Changing the download location

>Also tried reindicating my download location

2. Turned off dangerous downloads 3. Putting an exception to the sites I try download from 4. Clearing the downloads 5. Tried troubleshooting mode 6. Restarting my computer 7. Restarting Firefox

I can't download on firefox but the same files I can download on Chrome.

Can you save files via "Save Page As" to that download location ?

Firefox starts downloading the file to the OS temp folder (set via TEMP and TMP environment variables) and creates the actual file (0 bytes) and a .part file and doesn't wait for you to specify name and location (destination folder). You can check if there isn't a quota set for the temp folder and if there is enough space available if it stops at 1 GB. On Windows, copying the file from the temp folder to the final download location includes copying owner and permissions, so make sure Firefox has write permission. If Firefox fails to complete downloading and copying properly, Firefox will abort the download.

Interesting... I get Linux ISOs with now issues. see screenshot Can you post a screenshot. What's the path you're downloading to and the permissions? What happens when you download to your desktop? Where did you get Firefox from? Is your Win10 Home or Pro? If Pro, can you fire up Windows Sandbox and see if you have the same issues in the VM? https://www.howtogeek.com/399290/how-to-use-windows-10s-new-sandbox-to-safely-test-apps/

Does this happen with all downloads everywhere or is it limited to certain sites?

Does it still happen in Troubleshoot Mode?

I haven't tried save page as but I tried downloading from discord and any kind of video is automatically listed as "Failed". Also how do I check the TEMP and TMP environment variables?

Starting from the last questions, I have win10 pro. I don't know how to do the windows sandbox but I'll check some vids. I downloaded Firefox from the web. Tried downloading to desktop and it doesn't work. Only mozilla is affected by what I did. Chrome is completely fine. I can download image files but not videos and pdfs. The path I set for firefox is directly to the new dl folder.

It happens with all sites and applications that I set mozilla to be the default downloader for(like when I download a video from discord and it uses mozilla as the downloader). It happens even with troubleshoot mode. I'll try reinstalling my mozilla and see if it works but I doubt its going to help me much

Thanks all for answering my question, I just want to add that my title is erroneous as I found with further testing that anything other than jpg or img my mozilla can't download for some reason. I'll try reinstalling and removing all preferences but I doubt its going to help me

Try disabling your antivirus or security software. You may need to boot into Windows Safe Mode or uninstall them to stop them from interfering.

Does it still happen in a new profile? An easy way to test a new profile is to install Developer Edition and see if it happens there or refresh your existing profile.

Thank to you everyone who helped me with this problem. I found that the issue was coming from my TEMP and TMP variables were still set as the default variables in an old hard drive that I removed
