As a company we've been using apple mail with the mail tags plug in for years. Now that apple no longer allows plug ins with mail I'm looking for a new solution for our team of 50 with many shared IMAP accounts.

Will tags in Thunderbird share across IMAP accounts to multiple devices or are they device specific? I need to know specifically about custom tags, we need more than the 4 or 5 standard tags to share across devices.

If the same set of tags is defined on all devices, and the IMAP server supports keywords, the tags will sync. A simple test should confirm the server's properties. If the tags don't sync, consider using separate folders to classify mail and have these folders subscribed on all devices.
