Where is setting for Calendar Alerts (popups, sounds)?
When I first opened Thunderbird (just a few weeks ago), I noticed that some Calendar Tasks were already set up by Thunderbird. (My standalone calendar is Efficient Reminder).
But I don't see options for REMINDERS - popups (preferably) and/or sounds. (The purpose of a calendar for me is to be reminded to do things.)
I searched for options in Thunderbird, and I looked on the information here, but can't find anything.
If I can I select a sound and/or popup to REMIND me, where can I find the option to set it?

Settings/Calendar/Reminders? See picture.
Hi,
"Settings/Calendar/Reminders? See picture."
Thanks.
I got to Settings/Calendar -- but not Reminders. I got to Reminder settings using Search. The attached picture helped.
These settings are for defaults. What about Reminder settings for individual tasks? Daily tasks can all be the same, but not individual ones (appointments), which I need to change as the appt. date gets closer. Is this possible in this calendar?
(Just an FYI .... the picture wasn't in the email; I don't know if it was supposed to be.)
Each event or task window has a Reminder menu with several choices, as well as Custom (see picture).
Pictures are not attached to forum notification emails - which is why I indicate there are ones that can only be viewed by visiting the forum. It's a shortcoming of the forum software.
Getting pop-ups, but can't find the sound selection. More important, when I click on anything in the Task module, TBird hangs. So I can't make changes in a Task, let alone locate Sound selection.
When I spend more time trying to edit the Tasks, I get more hangs there and in the Email module.
Last night, everything on my computer was hesitating, no heavy apps. This morning I ran the pre-bootup diagnostics, which reported everything (memory, etc.) are okay. So I don't know how to get T-Bird running smoothly, or maybe I should forget the Tasks and Calendar?
I'm guessing these comments belong in another area. Would be nice to be able to copy it where it needs to be.
The first section under Settings/Calendar/Reminders has the sound settings.
Try running Windows in safe mode to bypass startup apps that might be causing poor performance, then test TB. Slow reactions with calendars, either local or network, is not common unless an external app is interfering.
I'm not familiar with syncing Efficient Reminder in TB, as most users add accounts with providers like Google, outlook.com, AOL etc. that offer CalDAV access. There are also calendar-like add-ons like mailmindr.
Thanks again for your replies. I don't see how Safe Mode will help (I have 32 GB Ram), few startup programs, and very little running today.
I have Sound checked on Settings/Calendar/Reminders. I selected one of my mp3 files, but they don't play with the reminder popups. I'm now trying "Use default sound."
I just tried making a couple more tasks. I don't see a Save button, so I put the cursor in one of the box which let me and I hit Ctrl S. But neither Task was saved.
IF there's a Save command at the bottom of the dialog box, I can't get to it -- When I try to make the dialog box smaller, all it does is move down -- the bottom remains out of sight. I'm working with 2 24" monitors, so this shouldn't be happening. Same thing happens on both monitors.
I just noticed "Default setting for events" and "Default reminder setting for tasks." Both are On. Maybe I should deselect them?

It's not a matter of how many startup apps or RAM you have, but the kind of app, especially antivirus which have a long history of degrading TB performance, unless the TB profile folder is excluded from AV scanning.
TB is particular with sound files. Files that are wav format work best, and it is easy to convert mp3 to wav.
See the picture that shows the Save & Close button for tasks. It's also available under Task on the Menu Bar, or Ctrl+L.
The Default settings can left on, which doesn't affect the ability to set them for each task or event.
AV software is McAfee. I really hate turning off this protection on emails. I would think it's McAfee's responsibility to do something about this.
I don't see the option for Sound in the individual task set-up.
I don't have the Save etc. line.
See attached Screenshot of what I get. (And you'll note I don't get the entire window, which I'm unable to resize.)
You won't find McAfee or any other AV vendor helping you with their issues.
The notification sound is the same for all tasks or events, only the time can be set for each one.
Enable the Event Toolbar under View/Toolbars.
And Mozilla can't do anything?
I can't find where the Sound setting is in t-bird .
And my screenshot shows I don't have the line in the dialog box which gives the SAVE command. Why would it be different from your window?
It's like I have a different version of T-bird than you do. Is there someone specific I can contact about this?
Sound is under Reminders in Settings/Calendar.
Enable the Events Toolbar, as explained above, or Ctrl+L to save. Your bird theme might be affecting the layout.
