emails lost after repairing folder
Since Thunderbird wasn't loading emails properly, showing a blank page instead of the text, I tried repairing the email folder in the Poperties window, but the repaired folder is missing 6 years' worth of emails -- 2018 to today.
The weight of the profile folder is also different from the last time it's been backed up (unfortunately 6 months ago), and the Inbox file of this last backup is 10GB bigger than the new one (I'm also trying to open the inbox file but the smallest is 4GB and the bigger one 14GB, and notepad doesn't seem to be handling it very well).
Has the old Index file been written over? Is there any way it can be recuperated, perhaps with a file recovery software as a last resort?

Sì, da una veloce scorsa sembra essere lo stesso bug (la casella scarica in POP3), ma il mio trigger per la cancellazione delle mail è stato far riparare la cartella, non la compattazione...
Ho verificato il file Inbox attuale e il cut-off è al 2018, ho un vecchio backup di fine febbraio e lì invece ci sono tutte fino ad allora (ma sono comunque 6 mesi di mail mancanti, e sul server di posta c'è solo l'ultimo mese recuparabile).
Ora sto provando a fare il recupero dei dati in profondità per vedere se il vecchio file di stamattina sia da qualche parte e restorabile... Non c'è un'altra cache o simili dove trovare le mail?

Yes, from a quick scan it seems to be the same bug (POP3 download), but my trigger for the email being deleted was repairing the folder, not compacting it...
I checked the current Inbox file and the cut-off is at 2018, I have an old backup from the end of February and there I have all the emails until then (but that's still 6 months of missing emails, and there's only the last recoverable month on the mail server).
Now I'm trying deep data recovery to see if the old file from this morning is somewhere and restorable... Is there any other cache or similar where I can find the missing emails?

La riparazione delle cartelle è una forma speciale di compattazione.
Se non avevi impostato la cancellazione dei messaggi dal server dopo il download, tutti i messaggi dovrebbero ancora essere sul server stesso (Thunderbird di default non cancella i messaggi, bisogna impostare appositamente il programma).
Se l'opzione Permetti a ricerca Windows di cercare nelle messaggi era attiva, potresti avere copia dei messaggi anche in singoli file (un file per ogni email).
