I just received an email in Thunderbird through a personal Gmail account. It was not want I was expecting, so I logged into Gmail and checked there. The messages were completely different, including the return email address, and the attachment - the attachment wasn't missing, it was a different document all together.

Try to rebuild the index file of the troubled folder.

Right-click the folder - Properties - Repair Folder
