Switching between different versions of Firefox for MacOSX (for compatibility with employer's web-based software) always causes the firefox update page to appear in the first tab. Any way to disable this?

My wife has to switch between older and newer versions of Firefox. Her work IT department created web-based software that is incompatible with the newest version of Firefox. The annoyance is that every time she switches Firefox versions, the Firefox update page comes up in the first tab. Is there any way to disable that?

How did you get multiple versions of Firefox installed on a Mac?

She already had the newest version installed. Her IT department installed the older version somehow.
