Whenever I click download for any add-on for firefox a box pops up and says that i need to install firefox first and then it says learn more. so i click learn more and it takes me to the firefox download page. At first I thought it was because i needed to update firefox so i tried that and it didnt work. I really need help because as of right now im not able to download any firefox add-on.

Your UserAgent string in Firefox is messed up by another program that you installed, and the addons website doesn't know you are running Firefox 3.6.3. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_Agent

type about:config in the URL bar and hit Enter If you see the warning, you can confirm that you want to access that page. Filter = general.useragent. Right-click the preferences that are bold, one line at a time, and select Reset, Then restart Firefox
