Under IE8, occasionally I would run a windows live one scanner, which is an excellent free virus scan, and catches a lot more than my package with my provider does. However, it is not compatible with Firefox 3.6.8. On its web page, Windows One tells you of an add-on you can use to run the scan with Firefox, but the add-on is not available on version 3.6.8.

The way that Microsoft developed the scanner, it will never work in Firefox or quite a few other browsers. The scanner uses an ActiveX control which will not be supported on Firefox or many other browsers. For details on the reasons why Firefox does not support ActiveX see https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/ActiveX
