Working with Firefox v3.511. This version is required by business requirements. I researched how to disable the default browser as part of the install on the web but I cannot disable the default browser check pop-up.

It is best not to modify files in the Firefox program folder.

You can lock the pref browser.shell.checkDefaultBrowser to false or create a file user.js in the default template folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\defaults\profile) to set the pref to false.

See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Locking_preferences
pref("browser.shell.checkDefaultBrowser", false);

In user.js you need to use
user_pref("browser.shell.checkDefaultBrowser", false);

Hello Cor-El! Thank you for the response! Your point about the danger of modifying the system files is well taken.

I like the user specific orientation your reference gave me and I'm looking into it but I'm concerned that I'll need to run this type of installation for each user on a shared PC. I saw the Client Customization Kit reference at the top of the article and I'm looking at that as well.

Currently I am still looking at the system file mods and have gotten further by creating a configuration file, firefox.cfg, which appears to then apply the settings for all users on a particular PC. I'm hoping I can use your reference, particularly the CCK to take me the rest of the way. Please let me know if you have an all users solution and I'll post if I find one. Thanks!
