Hi,

basically I would like to change the mouse shortcut for ctrl-click to be shift-click - that is I want to harmonize my browser shortcuts and there are other browsers out there that open a new tab on shift-click, not on ctrl-click.

How can i customize this?

THNAKS!!!

Firefox has always used Ctrl + left click to open links in a new tab and Shift + left-click to open a link in a new window.

Maybe a tab related extension can change that behavior.

*Tab Mix Plus: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/1122
*Tabberwocky: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/14439
*Tab Control: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/1480

Wow, I did not know that it would be such a problem - I was thinking of "hey, certainliy it is just some ini file or any registry or whatever setting to change that easily" Is it so deeply hidden in the firefox code?

However, OK, and thank you for the links to the addons. I will try them, but I know at least tab mix plus and I think it can not do it.

Thank you also for the information, that Firefox has always used Ctrl + left click to open links in a new tab! However, I knew that and I still would like to use my own shortcuts and I think it is a basic requirement for any software to offer customization of shortcuts - I think it is very essential to offer a harmonized environment, especially for older or handicapped people (I am working with) it is very, very frustrating to have to learn different keystrokes and combinations for every program they use - an advanced user profile setting that saves all this stuff would be something to expect by OS producers in a modern world, but every piece of software has to support this and be customizable... seems like the stone age of computer usage will stay a little bit longer...

Thanks for your attention!

Ctrl+Click has always been the defacto standard, used also in many other softwares that work with tabs. Opera uses Shift+Click behavior and this has always been a major drawback for me. I agree there must be a built-in way to customize these shortcuts in FF though. I'd like Shift+Click to open links in background tab (i don't use windows, only tabs), instead of in new windows. Ctrl+Shift+Click is harder to use, since I don't make any use of Shift+click. All keyconfig extensions I've tried so far, are very buggy.
