I was forced to upgrade to the new 3.6.12 version. In the older version I had, if the program crashed or if I deliberately stopped Firefox by stopping it in Processes with End Task, when I restarted Firefox a box would come up asking me if I want to start a new session or go back to the old session. Well the default now seems to be with the new version it will take you back to where you were when it crashed or was stopped via processes and doesn't give you a choice. I have searched Tools multiple times and cannot find anything that will give me the option described above.

The thing is, I will stop Firefox by using End Task in processes when I come across a page/site that pops up a box asking me if i really want to navigate away from the page, rather than clicking on the pop up box or a site that starts popping up windows all over the place.

Can someone direct me to where I can tell my browser to ask me if I want to start a new session when this happens? And please tell me why .. any time a software is upgraded or new and improved, it always ends up taking away choices?

Set the pref browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes to 0 on the about:config page to get the about:sessionrestore page immediately with the first restart after a crash has occurred or the Task Manager was used to close Firefox.

That will allow you to deselect the tab(s) that you do not want to reopen, but will allow to reopen the other tabs.
