Some sites using php / whenever try to download from them I keep getting download.php as the file instead of say zip/rar/exe etc.

I need to check the link with IE to know what is the extension when finish download.

You can try to increase the download timeout that Firefox waits to get the name from the server.

See http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.download.saveLinkAsFilenameTimeout

Even downloading from Rapidshare instead of a .rar file I get rsapi.cgi file of same size.

Already increased browser.download.saveLinkAsFilenameTimeout from 1000 (1sec) to 3000 (3sec) and yet the issue is not resolved.

I just purchased some games from BMT Micro, I kept getting download.cgi or something file. I am forced to use IE to download the files.

Any other advise?
