My comma key does not work at all - in Yahoo or Word offline or my blog. I have Mozilla 3.5.5 and am on a MSI Wind Notebook. Windows XP. My homepage is Google. When I click on my bank icon in the toolbar about 6 commas suddenly appear in the Google search box. Then immediately the Quick Search box comes up and runs a whole bunch of commas nonstop complete with clicking noises until I press Escape. It does not do this with any other website - just my bank.

Do you have a mouse driver that makes it possible to assign key sequences to mouse events?

Make sure that all mouse buttons have the default action.

Thanks for the reply. No I don't use a mouse just the scroll pad on the computer.

You can start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

  • Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

See Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

  • Use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window to disable all extensions.
  • Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

Thanks I'll try that. I just upgraded to Mozilla 3.6.13 and the problem with the commas appearing in the Google search box and Firefox Quick Search has gone for now but the comma key itself seems dead as a dodo.

I'll follow through with your suggestions - thanks.
