Hey. First of all: I tried to solve the problem on my own for 2 days now. I've tried loads of stuff and by now I'm starting to get seriously annoyed...

Status Quo: In the beginning I did a JSON-Backup-File, after which I formatted my computer. Importing the File didn't work. Things I tried and that didn't work:

  • Checking it is a JSON-File (Yes, it is!)
  • Creating a new FF-Profile to import the backup on it
  • Importing it on an older FF-Version
  • Replacing the places.sqlite
  • Open the JSON-File in Text Editor (didn't show anything)

To be completly honest: The JSON-File contains 2 years worth of bookmarks, many of the related to work. I just can't stand to lose all of them, so pretty much every help is more than welcome!

You don't import a JSON backup, you restore a JSON backup.

Import is for bookmarks.html files.

@ the-edmeister: I does not work with importing on my FF!!! And it sucks like hell! One year of bookmarking!!! I backuped last night and want to import the json file! NOTHING HAPPENS! the bookmarks do not appear again. Simply nothing happens! Think I'll switch to Chrome, if this does not get resolved!

Import is for bookmarks.html files that were exported from Firefox or another browser.
