I have a problem with FF that is driving me insane. I want to get rid of the "Bookmarks" Submenu which resides on the far RH side of the Bookmarks Toolbar, but it won't let me delete it. I have tried EVERYTHING to get it to go - Deleted preferences, deleted all of my bookmarks, tried customising the toolbar etc but it's still there. I have no need to a Bookmakr submenu in my Bookmark toolbar and I don't want it there, just taking up space. Is there any way at all I can get rid of it? Friends say that their FF doesn't have it, but I have tried a re-install and trashing prefs and it still won't go!

Could use some help with this - I am going mad.

Thanks

LJ

Go to View | Toolbars | Customize. A panel will appear. Drag what you don't want in there.

While you have that panel open, you can also rearrange the interface if you don't like the existing layout. You can also drag other stuff out of there and onto the toolbar.

P.S. Sorry it took so long to respond to your question.

Ugh; I feel like such a moron. It was the first thing I tried but I was just dragging it out of the toolbar, not into the panel. What a dufus. Anyway, thanks Xircal - Definitely appreciated. I do think it'd be better if the panel expanded to fit the options available though, rather than having a scroll bar. I dragged it in there and couldn't see where it went initially. Anyway, that's not to take away from my stupidity - Oh the shame!

Cheers

OK - Now I have a new issue. Without the Bookmark sub menu in the Bookmark toolbar, I can't drag or add any links to the bookmark toolbar! Dragging, adding it via the Bookmark Panel etc. is fruitless. Is this normal behaviour? I don't get it - Why would I need a sub menu in my bookmark bar, when the whole reason for the bar being there is for me to add my own bookmark locations or even folders? There is no point having the bar, if it has a menu in it, since I have to open the menu anyway, so I may as well just open the bookmark menu. I can't believe this is the way it is designed.... Attached is a pic comparing what it looks like with the sub-menu in the bar and without. Note that in both cases the Bookmark Bar is visible.

This is not doing my intention to jump ship from Safari any good. So far the Bookmark management and RSS Set-up in Firefox is leaving a lot to be desired, and is looking decidedly dodgy....

Thanks, but as you can see in the screenshots, the toolbar is already checked and visible. The bar is there, populated with links when the cursed sub-menu is there, unpopulated when not.

Did you move the Bookmarks Toolbar Items into the Customize Palette, along with the Bookmarks button?

Thank you. Grazie. Aragato. Marci. Gracias. Danke.

i, too, was getting very annoyed, only my difficulty was that somehow i had opened the bookmarks as a left side panel attached to every screen i was viewing, and it was consuming valuable real estate.

i could not figure out how it got there or how to close it.

Maybe a "close" with a little "x" next to it on the panel would be helpful. That's what i was trying to find to get it to, well, CLOSE.

i'm just sayin'...
