It is staffed by volunteers and is only open for limited hours each day.

I understand it is staffed by volunteers and there is a limited schedule, but I have tried 50 times during those times and it is never open. If it isn't working, or can't be staffed, it should be removed from the support options.

I have used, and been happy with Firefox for years...I suppose it was 4.0. When told I could update to 5.0, I tried to do this, but was told that my Mac was not compatible. How the hell do I get back to my original version (which had lots of info that I need)? I'm at murphy.thomas8@gmail.com. And will you ever get some "volunteers" ready to answer questions? I would think that offering the 5.0 version of Firefox, you would make chats available without all this fuss.

Then it's time they started PAYING someone to be there.

I'm having this problem right now too! I've used Live Chat in the past and have liked it, but it really drives me nuts when it says it's closed during the times it's SUPPOSED to be open! I need help right now! Why does this happen? And I too understand they use volunteers & that it's only open during limited hours, so please don't repeat that answer.
