Cannot open MS Office files

more options

When I select a link for a MS Office file (.doc, .ppt, etc), nothing happens. I don't get a popup box asking if I want to open or save the file and the file doesn't open. How can I get these files to open in Firefox. I don't have the problem in any other browser.

I've tried replacing the office plugin file NPOFF12.DLL from a working system to the bad system, and it didnt help. I got that by doing typing about:plugins in the address bar. This person can open PDF documents, it's just Office files that dont open. I get no prompt to do anything. I have seen threads about headers on the webpages, but I'm not sure if its applicable. I tried from OWA and it does the same thing; nothing.

I figured it out! You have to have both the Office 2003 plugin as well as the Office 2007 plugin. The 2003 file is npoffice.dll. Copy that to C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins.

I copied npoffice.dll from c:/i387/Files/Pfiles/MSOffice to C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins. I still can't open office documents. I don't get a prompt, I don't get an error, nothing happens.
