You can get the drop down list by either right-clicking on the back/forward buttons, or holding down the left button until the list appears. If you want the drop-down arrow you can add it with the Back/forward dropmarker add-on - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/backforward-dropmarker

Right-click on the Back/Forward arrow for the drop-down list; the small drop-down arrow on the Back/Forward button has been removed. In the drop-down, the current position in that tab's history is "bolded" with the items above being "Back" and the items below being "Forward".
