All of a sudden I get a popup saying that the script adobe 10.2 is not responding and if I continue to run it, my computer will stop responding. Why is this happening especially when I am doing nothing with pdf files.

try 10.2.159.1 of flash player, and if it does not help, try firefox 3.6.16, or I.E. 7/8/9, google chrome 10.x, this really happens to some specific website. some web site designers ,they only do test with I.E. ......

I looked for the version you said to use and could only find one saying version 11.5.9.620. Is this a good version and will it work?

I will try it.

That's Shockwave For Director which plays enhanced videos. You have it installed already, but it's an old version, so well worth updating.

Flash also needs updating, get that at http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

I found the update you mentioned. I am running it now. I don't know if I am getting the error still. I have to run it a while. Why didn't it update automatically?

Flash doesn't auto-update, but you can configure Firefox to advise when an update becomes available. The setting is located in Tools | Options | Advanced | Update (tab).

It was already set to that. It just hasn't been telling me.

I now have to find out why I can't get other tabs open in FF.
