The Alt-Gr key is not working

The Alt-Gr key is not working in Firefox. On a danish keyboard, I use it as a modifier key to type characters like: @£$\{[]} .

It is neither working in the address or search bars or in HTML-input fields.

I have tried to "Restart with add-ons disabled", this did not solve the problem.

It is working correctly in all other applications I have tested on my system. So until now I have had to copy paste those symbols to the browser from other programs.

The machine is newly installed with Ubuntu 11.04 and Firefox 4.0.1. The problem has existed since installation.

Any ideas to what could be wrong?

Thanks in advance!

Oh, and now I realize that I have the same problem in Thunderbird 3.1.9. Makes it a bit difficult to type in email addresses.
