I had to reload my pc. when installing FF, I was offered the new ver4 so I loaded that. I had saved Favorites to other pc prior to reload and saved back to pc AFTER updating with FF4. To import, it only offers from IE and doesn't offer from FF like it used to. From IE option doesn't work.

What format did you use to save your Favorites? Do you mean your IE Favorites folder, or your Firefox bookmarks?

If you saved your old Firefox profile folder, this article has tips for restoring that information: Recovering important data from an old profile. See also: Lost Bookmarks | Troubleshooting | Firefox Help.
