I used to use Firefox exclusively, but with the newer versions, I am losing over 4 mbps of bandwidth just running the browser. I get a 10 mbps spped test with Internet explorer or Chrome, but can get only 6 mbps speed test using FF. Is there any kind of fix for this, browsing is just too slow with FF the way it now is.

I have been seeing increasing delays and connection resets of late. Can't find any problems with hardware but by chance I discovered a discrepancy with Firefox (currently 6.o1). Something in Firefox is eating bandwidth like crazy.

Here is a Speedtest with Firefox (34.53 down / 4.56 up):

and also with IE8 on same machine (58.94 down / 4.86 up):

Speedtest in IE

This is repeatable over and over with the same computer, same server, at different times of day. I disabled all Firefox add-ons and same results. fully uninstalled and reinstalled and same. While watching Speedtest's process there is a line grahic which shows the upload speed as it goes under the speedometer. With IE8 is goes up, plateaus, and comes down. With Firefox, it is up and down in a chaotic / jagged fashion throughout the test transfer (seemingly consistent with my noted delays while browsing).

I really would prefer Firefox but the performance of late is terrible compared to IE8 on my system.
