I just downloaded Firefox 5.0.1 on Mac OS X, but no images display on web pages!

I have an iMac with OS X v. 10.6.8, and have been using Firefox for years. Recently I was advised to upgrade to the latest version of Firefox. I "uninstalled" the existing Firefox application on my computer, then did the free download for Firefox 5.0.1. Now none of the web pages that I view with Firefox look right: many of the images don't display on Firefox, when the same page viewed with Safari looks "normal" with the various images and background colors. Previously, Safari and Firefox looked similar when displaying any given web page. What is happening now with Firefox? I repeated this entire installation process, same result. Thank you.

Make sure that you allow pages to choose their colors and that you haven't enabled High Contrast in the Accessibility settings.

  • Firefox > Preferences > Content : Fonts & Colors > Colors : [X] "Allow pages to choose their own colors, instead of my selections above"

Wow, I checked the box "Allow pages to choose their own colors ..." as you suggested, and it worked! Thank you for this helpful information! Sincerely,
