As said: clicking on Firefox icon brings up only the left hand side of the page, sown on the right side of the screen: desktop is still in view on the left.

This issue can be caused by the Babylon Toolbar extension


Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
