Firefox keeps trying to prepend "www." to a URL I type in the location bar.

I have gone to about:config and toggled browser.fixup.alternate.enabled to false and have even changed browser.fixup.alternate.prefix to a blank value. Nothing changed. Firefox still insists on prepending www to my URL.

How do I disable this colossally stupid and aggravating "feature"?

Does that happen with all URLs?

Firefox may still have a cached version of the www. version of the URL.
