I am new to Mozilla and received an e-mail about safety. It said that you can stop sites tracking you by clicking the Firefox key then choosing Tools menu in WindowXP and click stop tracking. However I do not have a Tools menu when I click Firevox button.

Can you help please?

Hi,

Press Firefox button and than choose Start Private Browsing.

This will start Private Browsing but I think that you want one different think - Do Not Track me

Selecting the "do-not-track" setting will only make Firefox send a specific HTTP header (DNT=1) to a web server.

It is up to the server to do something with that request.

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Tracking: "Tell web sites I do not want to be tracked"

Private Browsing only prevents Firefox from storing data in disk and nothing more. It doesn't hide you in any other way.
