Firefox crashes my entire computer through the mouse; how do I fix this issue?

I've had this issue for quite some time. Using the scroll wheel on my mouse to scroll through websites ends up not only crashing my browser, but my entire computer. It doesn't do this in Internet Explorer, so I know it's Firefox's doing.

Recently, just clicking on an image seems to trigger this crash. A friend told me to uninstall then reinstall my mouse drivers; this fixed the issue a few versions back, but now the issue is back worse than ever and reinstalling my mouse driver does nothing.

Any way to fix this problem would be greatly appreciated; I love Firefox over all other browsers and I'd hate to be forced to switch due to this issue.

Upgrade your browser to Firefox 8 and check

You should try another browser. It sounds far more like a computer problem than a Firefox problem.

Downloading/Installing Chrome or Opera is easy.

Nope, that's not the issue; already in Firefox 8, as my browser automatically updates itself with each release.

As for other browsers, I know the issue isn't there in other browsers. Works just fine in Internet Explorer. I know I could go to other browsers, but I want to remain with Firefox.

Hi Turinu, thanks for sharing your issue. I have a very similar issue so I found this via Google.

My computer sometimes crash when clicking the scroll wheel to fire links in separate tab. Screen gets all gray for a small amount of time and then the computer restarts.

The error seems to go all the way down to the kernel (I checked the Event Viewer).

Chrome, Internet Explorer and Safari does not have this problem on my computer.
