Anybody else wondering about this? Has anyone else with XP w/32 bit, downloaded the new Java update in plugins and are you running okay?

I want to update my Java plugin, but am waiting to see if others with XP, 32 bit have updated and how it works for them.

Thanks!

I attempted to update the Java tonight. It was in the middle of installing when it just up and rebooted my computer.

Have no idea if it actually installed or not.

I just found out from another user, that FF has ALREADY done the update! I have my settings at "notify me", too!

The reason I was wondering, is that I received a notification of a Java update. I later discovered, you can click on the icon and find out the status of the update (not in FF, but on the taskbar of your computer). I saw there that FF had already installed the update!

Thanks for the input!  :) It's greatly appreciated!

Okay, I just saw on the other version I had of this question, that there is yet another update out (other than the one that popped up on my taskbar of my computer).

Another user just downloaded Java update 1.7.0.1 and has all the same system data as me.

So, I guess the one that the FF plugin page wants us to update to, is 1.7.0.1. The other user said she did the update and it was okay (as of today). Although I appreciate the prompt response, I may hold off a few days to see if any problems develop.

Thanks again for your input!

LOL It gets weirder...the update from the site you suggested Andy is 6 update 29...not the 7.01 that the other user downloaded. BUT the other user has upgraded to FF 8 Beta...so maybe that explains the discrepancy.

I think I'll go with just the 6 update 29, since I'm not ready to update to a Beta 8 yet. Since I have an older computer, I wait on the Beta stuff.

Thanks for the site, Andy!

I downloaded the update from the Java site, but it crashed the Java toolkit and FF. But, I logged off, then restarted and checked. My Java plugins were updated to the 6 update 29 version I downloaded.

Think I'll just let FF do the updating from now on, I was just afraid it may download a 64 bit rather than 32 bit version.

Zukki, just go to your tools, addons and addon manager. It will bring you to your plugin page, and on the left top, in very small print, it has a link to check if your plugins are updated.

Oh, I left this open so that Zukki can see how to check to see if his update worked, Andy. I'll click that you solved it, once he gets a chance to see where to find the plugin update status.

Thanks for the link, Andy...the only reason I crashed is that I have very limited RAM. I need to look into buying more and am going to next week. Another topic for discussion! :)

Thanks so much for the info, I had completely forgotten about that way to check to see if they are up t date. Mine weren't.

I have three that need updating, including 2 Java.

Thanks again.
