I am getting this message: You're not on the latest version of Firefox. Upgrade today to get the best of the Web! ...every time I launch Firefox. So I follow the links and instructions to upgrade, like I have for years and when I go to use Firefox the next time I get the same message. What might be the problem? Thank you funnelspeak

It sounds like you're still using the old default start page at google.com/firefox , which was changed for Firefox 4. Try restoring the default Start Page for a more up-to-date version.
