Firefox startup page (default) is a google search window. It constantly offers previous searches and I can't find where to clear this history.

Hi shojimon,

Take a look at the KB article Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox. It has steps that cover not only your search history, but also pages viewed, active logins, downloads, etc.

Hopefully this helps!

Hi. I went to the pages you suggest. It says: At the top of the Firefox window, click the Firefox button, go over to the History menu and select Clear Recent History... then has lot's of things that can happen. However, when I click on the Firefox icon at the top left as directed, I don't get the menus that it shows will appear. So I can't click on clear history as it is not a choice. In your reply you refer to a "KB" article. What is KB and where is the article? If I go to the tool bar and click on history, it is the Firefox history not the google search history. When i go to the search toolbar (top right) , click on Google and clr that history, it is only for that search window, NOT the google search bar on the start up page.

Hi shojimon,

If you have the menu bar enabled (you see File, Edit, View, History, etc across the top of Firefox), you should got to Tools > Clear Recent History and you will be able to delete your search history. However, after reading your reply I think you are referring to the actual Google search page, not the search bar in the upper right hand corner. Is that correct?

Firefox will remember your browsing and search history. Once you've cleared all your private data as the article above shows, anything that Google offers up is coming from Google. I think you might be referring to suggested searches Google offers up as you type. Is that the case?

Just FYI, KB is Knowledge Base. There are lots of helpful articles in the Firefox Knowledge Base

Hi Matt. Yes, I am talking about the google bar across the start up page. NOT the little one in the toolbar. I guess to eliminate the search history, i would have to delete Firefox, resinstate it and put something else there...a web page or something. Thanks for trying. Google is taking over the world. Have a good holiday!

Hey Shojimon,

You don't have to delete Firefox. Clearing all of your data as mentioned above will get rid of anything that is Firefox specific. If you want a different page there, just look at How to set the home page.
