This is normal for files that Firefox downloads and displays in a separate application. For details, see: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=191239

To change this, you can:

  1. Type "about:config" in the Firefox location bar and press enter/return.
  2. Right-click or control-click anywhere in the about:config page, and choose "New > Boolean" from the menu.
  3. For the preference name, enter "browser.helperApps.deleteTempFileOnExit"
  4. For the preference value, choose "false"

For more detailed instructions for the about:config screen, see http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config
